Headlight bulbs

A headlight bulb is selected according to the requirements of the specific headlight and vehicle. Start with the exact reference, technology and base, then compare electrical designations and conditions of use for the selected item. If the headlight has been replaced, establish its identity too: the choice must suit the luminaire actually fitted. Retain all letters and digits in the designation without abbreviating the code.

Identify what you are replacing

Check the vehicle manual and marking on the existing light source. Also record which headlight function the replacement concerns. Titles in this category cover different lamp families, including xenon designations. This narrows the search but does not establish compatibility with a particular vehicle model. If unsure which lamp is installed, first establish its exact type instead of choosing by packaging appearance.

The cap is part of the check

Compare the full base designation and reference with the headlight documentation. Check whether the selected item is the light source you need or another lighting product. Different words in titles may indicate a different kit or format. When comparing product series from OSRAM , retain vehicle requirements as the primary criterion and use the series name for the subsequent comparison.

What to clarify with a different technology

If considering a technology change, request confirmation for the exact headlight and specific reference. Check mounting conditions, additional elements required and the product's permitted application. Do not infer permission for road use solely from the general lamp designation. Also compare supply and power data with those prescribed for the vehicle. A larger number in a title is not sufficient grounds for preferring a variant.

Arrange the order by item

Note the number of bulbs and the contents of the specific pack. For different bulbs serving separate functions, record the references separately to avoid mixing them when ordering. Check whether replacement requires additional checking or adjustment according to the vehicle instructions. For lighting positions outside the main headlight, browse auxiliary lighting bulbs. If starting with a complete vehicle list, the automotive bulbs section is a convenient starting point for allocating it.
