Fire suppression and fire barriers

This section includes components for fire-resistant cable penetrations and devices for fire suppression control. The first step is distinguishing the passive barrier from active control.

Identify the part in the cable passage

For EZ-PATH, the module, extension, mounting frame and firestop grommet are different components. The Legrand table separates them by reference and purpose. The frame must not be ordered with the expectation that it constitutes the whole penetration, while the extension is selected for the specific module and intended construction. Compare the parts list, not just the general series name.

For selection, have details of the wall or floor, opening and passing cables to hand. Compare them with the exact configuration's documentation. For some barriers, the designation in the offer differs in generation from that in the technical data sheet, including the T2. suffix. Clarify the relevant version before ordering; a similar reference is no basis for transferring a version or fire performance characteristic.

The panel and display serve other purposes

VSN-RP1r-Plus2 is a controller for the fire suppression activation sequence. The manufacturer describes inputs for conventional detectors and manual release devices, as well as control modes. TFT-SUPRA is listed as a graphic display for RP1r. panels. When looking for visualisation for an existing panel, check the display accessory separately from the controller itself.

For the active system, clarify the exact panel revision and intended interfaces to detectors, release devices and additional indication. Prepare a list of these connections for checking against the project. The mounting frame of a passive cable penetration and the control panel are not alternatives for the same position, even when part of a shared fire protection project.

Choose according to the approved configuration

For replacement, state the part code and its place in the existing system. For a new site, provide the selected configuration with accessories and the construction in which it is installed. Fire performance requirements are checked for the specific version by the responsible specialist. Do not infer a general class or protection time from a category name or one individual frame.
