For LED lighting, first distinguish whether the load requires constant voltage or constant current. CV and CC describe different control modes. In this category, LPV-100-12 is designated in the catalogue as a constant-voltage supply; the exact code is a starting point for checking, rather than proof of compatibility with any LED module.

Compare the mode with the LED load requirements

With a CV supply, a set output voltage is maintained, while current depends on the load within permitted limits. With CC control, a set current is maintained within the driver's intended operating range. Selection requires data for both sides: the requirements of the LED load and output parameters of the specific power supply.

Do not rank offers solely by power. Check the corresponding voltage, current and operating range in the documentation. The designation “LED” does not replace this check. If choosing LPV-100-12, use its exact technical datasheet instead of transferring parameters from a similar name or another series version.

Operating conditions may change the choice

MEAN WELL refers to the specific model's derating curve when ambient temperature requires reduced output power. There is no single reserve percentage or general temperature threshold that applies automatically to all power supplies. Clarify site conditions and check the curve, applicable power and positioning requirements in the selected documentation.

Also check the described overload behaviour. The manufacturer distinguishes current limiting, hiccup and power limiting; a general protection designation does not establish identical responses across all series. Normal CC mode also differs from activated current protection in a CV power supply. A protection mode should not be treated as a normal way to control the LED load.

Control functions, application and approvals required are confirmed for the exact model. Record them as separate requirements when comparing offers. A function in one series does not make it a property of every product from the brand or independently determine installation conditions.
