Work lights and construction floodlights

A work light or construction floodlight is selected according to the work area, positioning and available power supply. Clarify whether you will move the lighting between positions and what equipment the specific model requires.

Lighting the zone and placement

The names include portable work lights and floodlights in different versions. Describe the place to be lit and the points where the fitting can be positioned. Check the mounting method, aiming and accessories required. If the design includes a stand or holder, confirm the exact compatible part. Do not assume equipment shown in a photograph is included in the package or suitable for every lamp in the same series.

Cable or other power supply

Read how the selected reference's power supply is described. For a wired version, check connection requirements and the reach required to the working position. For a battery model, clarify charging, included accessories and performance in the selected mode. Do not transfer runtime from one setting to another. If the product requires a separate lamp, compare the prescribed format and check whether the light source is included in the kit.

Lighting measures for the actual task

Compare luminous flux separately from power: lumens describe emitted visible light, while watts describe consumption. Positioning and light distribution must be considered in relation to the work area. Check colour temperature for the shade of white light. If the task requires particular colour rendering, also compare CRI for the exact model. Do not assume that a high number for one measure resolves all the lighting requirements at the location.

Environment and assembly

Check the conditions of use, stated protection and mounting for the specific fitting. IP does not verify resistance to chemicals, UV or impact. When moving between different workplaces, compare requirements for each without assuming identical applications solely from the name work light. Prepare a separate list of power and mounting accessories, reading the actual package contents.

The products shown from COMMEL, EMOS and VIRONE can be compared by exact reference. For lighting held in the hand or worn on the head, continue to torches and headlamps. The general work lighting and torches section helps allocate different tasks without confusing their requirements.
