Internet, TV and telephone sockets

Internet, TV and telephone sockets must match the specific line and equipment at both ends. Start with signal and required connector, leaving decorative series and colour for the next selection stage.

Distinguish signal connections

Names include network, TV, telephone and other connector designations. Check the exact socket's role and intended cable. RJ45, RJ11 and TV coaxial connectors involve different checks. A similar face component is insufficient to determine the function behind it.

For a network product, check the full category and shielding designation against the circuit requirements. Do not infer the speed or capabilities of the completed connection solely from the designation of an individual outlet. For a television or other signal version, use the corresponding system documentation, including each socket's intended use.

Check whether you are buying a mechanism or faceplate

Establish which parts the selected reference includes. A fitted connector, support, faceplate and frame may be separate items, even when shown together in a photograph. When adding to an existing series, retain exact codes and dimensions instead of comparing only manufacturer names. Also check the number and layout of connectors.

Examine the space required behind the visible part and the connection method intended for the specific product. If there is a cable lead or additional connection, check what is included and what must be provided separately. These mounting data differ from the panel's decorative dimensions and are essential when choosing for an already prepared location.

Power supply is a separate function

For a charging point, explore USB mechanisms; to plug in an appliance, explore Electrical sockets. Do not assume a signal outlet also provides the power function required. Offers from LEGRAND allow browsing within the manufacturer, while Electrical and communication sockets brings the main areas together. For comparison, prepare the signal, connector, exact series, mounting space and kit contents so that each outlet is chosen for the actual circuit.
