Fire and gas safety

Fire and gas safety involves different tasks: detecting an event, signalling and other measures specified in the project. Choose the appropriate area before comparing individual devices, because their general purpose does not determine system compatibility.

Detection of fire and gas events

For detectors, manual call points, modules and relevant accessories, browse Fire detection and alarm systems. Clarify the system type and generation, as well as each item's role. An addressable module, wireless detector and sounder are not different versions of the same part; they must be compared with the specific project and equipment.

For gas events, use Gas detection. Selection must follow the purpose required, environment and described operation of the exact model. Do not assume that a device with a general gas designation detects every substance or is suitable everywhere. Check the functions required and corresponding outputs in the technical documentation.

Other measures are a separate task

In Fire suppression and fire barriers , distinguish the selected component's function from notification of an event. Its suitability is checked according to the application and conditions at the specific site. Do not infer protective coverage, compliance or results for the whole system from one item or an accessory with a similar name.

Prepare a list by role and system

For each product, record the exact reference, system, purpose, power supply and mounting additions required. Consider the base, housing and included parts separately. Attachments for pipe installations are checked against the exact detector instead of being chosen as universal mounting parts. A similar mounting size or the same manufacturer is not enough for replacement between families. For a replacement, also check the existing equipment's generation where it forms part of the designation.

Offers from HONEYWELL and AJAX allow browsing by manufacturer. If the project includes a separate announcement function, explore Voice announcement systems; the general overview is in Security and intercoms. Before ordering, compare the list with the design and check quantities and package contents for every item. This distinguishes individual tasks and their components without assuming that a general category constitutes a complete or universally compatible system.
