Lighting control

For lighting control, distinguish the light source itself, control device and faceplates or mounting parts. Selection starts with the desired action and specific luminaire, followed by checks of compatibility, power supply and control method.

What needs to be controlled

The category includes dimmers, faceplates and lighting products with smart designations. Clarify whether you need switching, brightness adjustment, light colour or another expressly described function. Do not assume every product supports all these actions. Check the exact model and the device it will control instead of relying solely on the general LED or smart name.

Match the dimmer to the load

Check the dimmer's intended use and the permitted types and parameters of the equipment it controls. For the luminaire, check support for the required control. A similar power rating is not enough to assume compatibility. If the item is only a faceplate, establish which mechanism it is intended for and which parts must be added separately.

For a smart lamp, strip or controller, check protocol, app and required intermediary devices by exact reference. If using scenes, check supported events and actions for every participating device. A shared ecosystem does not mean identical functions for all its products. Also check whether the required controller or power supply is explicitly included.

Location, light and supplementary devices

Compare the shape, base or mounting with the actual place of use. Review the lighting designations and permitted environment in the technical data for the selected product. An enclosure protection rating does not replace checking the specific application and does not in itself confirm other properties such as impact resistance. Do not transfer data from a similar model to the entire family.

For commands and automation, use Smart control, and for the required input events, browse Sensors and detectors. For a broader system, continue to Building automation systems. Offers from EMOS and LEDVANCE allow comparison by manufacturer. Before ordering, check the light source, control device, power supply and mounting parts as a specific kit.
