Smart switches, sockets and modules

Choose smart switches, sockets and modules according to the controlled function and specific system. First distinguish a functional device, micromodule, command device and face element, because the same finished appearance may require several separate parts.

Functional device or faceplate

The category includes smart relays, blind switches, a scene switch and faceplates. Check exactly what the chosen item is and which series it belongs to. A central cover or socket faceplate does not confirm the electronic function of the entire socket. Establish required mechanisms, frames and additions by their specific references.

Example of a specific relay function

Shelly Plus 1, model SNSW-001X16EU, uses a potential-free dry contact. It supports standalone local Wi-Fi control, optional cloud functions and its own built-in web interface. These data apply to the stated model; they do not imply energy measurement or identical operation of every external integration without internet. Check the required function separately when comparing generations and models.

For another relay or socket, check the permitted application, output and conditions for the controlled equipment. For a blind switch, check the intended use and compatibility with the specific system. For a scene switch, establish which commands the selected configuration supports. A general smart designation does not confirm identical functions or direct compatibility between all products.

Communication and installation dependencies

Check the power supply, intermediate devices required and control method in the documentation. For a micromodule, check its size and intended installation space; for a front element, check the supported series and functional part. Do not assume that a gateway, power supply or frame is included from an image alone. Record each necessary addition as a separate item on the list.

For another type of control device, browse controllers and control panels, with general guidance in Smart control. The offers from SHELLY, LEGRAND and BTICINO can be browsed by manufacturer. Finally, compare the desired action, exact reference, system and mounting components. When replacing a product, check the retained components instead of choosing solely by similar colour or shape.
